BLENDED LEARNING

Clarkston Community Schools offers blended learning opportunities for students in Grades 6-12 through the Clarkston Virtual program. In a blended learning environment, students enroll in a combination of face-to-face  and online courses, allowing students greater flexibility in the selection and pacing of their academic coursework. 

Clarkston Community Schools prides itself on forward movement and innovative uses of technology to support learning. We encourage parents to carefully consider if virtual courses are ideal for their child, given the fact that they will be forfeiting face-to-face teacher classroom instruction. Parents should carefully consider the unique qualities of their child when investigating if an online course is right for them. Some of the factors to consider include:

• Does your student possess the independent study habits needed to complete an entire course online without direct supervision?
• Does your student have the reading, writing, math, and computer literacy skills to succeed in a class that is completely online?
• Can your student create and maintain a study schedule without face-to-face interaction with a teacher and without collaboration with other students?
• Can your student self-advocate and seek help in a virtual setting?

Parents who wish to enroll their child in this blended learning option for the 2023-24 school year will need to submit the CCS Blended Learning Application (below) no later than June 1st, 2023
